Remnants (2)
To repeat Ragnarok.
Frondier knew well what this meant.
‘There are still giants left on this land. Trapped inside the Pandemonium.’
Of course, he couldn't say that all of them were alive.
From his own experience, Frondier knew that his Pandemonium couldn't last long. Both Baal and Athena had reached a precarious state in that short period.
The war between humans and Gods, Ragnarok in this world, was an event from so long ago that humanity no longer remembered it. Of course, the fact that people now didn't even know this war had happened wasn't simply a matter of time. But surely, a considerable amount of time had passed.
Even if they were giants, they were originally human. Could they endure such a long time inside the Pandemonium?
“They will be alive.”
“!”
As if reading Frondier's thoughts, Heracles spoke.
“They are still alive, waiting for someone to come again someday.”
“……Why do you think so?”
Heracles smiled at that.
“Because half of me is human.”
Heracles believed in the strength of humans. Then Frondier, who was entirely human, had no choice but to have that faith as well.
Nevertheless, Heracles added,
“But whether it’s truly right to meet them, I cannot say for sure.”
The giants who fought against the Gods in the distant past reappear. What happens next would be as natural as the flow of water.
Flames will soar.
Heracles knew all too well the resentment the giants held towards the Gods, and although Frondier didn't know it, he sensed it. If the giants were to reappear, war would surely break out.
“Then why did you tell me that information? You’re well aware of the danger.”
If Heracles was worried about war, he could have kept quiet about this matter. However, Heracles had shown Frondier the possibility. What was the reason?
“The first reason is, if you can truly enter the Pandemonium, I thought it might be the only way to kill a God.”
“……Do you resent the Gods that much? As much as the giants?”
“Resentment? No, no. This is not a story of that level.”
Heracles shook his head leisurely.
“It’s just something that has to be done. The giants must have thought the same.”
“……You’re a demigod. You wouldn’t fully understand their feelings.”
“That’s right. Gods also only do what they have to do.”
As Heracles said this, a lonely look flashed across his eyes.
“That’s why I am an observer.”
“…….”
There was still much that Frondier didn't understand.
The resentment the giants held towards the Gods, the murderous intent Heracles exuded, and what he meant by ‘something that has to be done’.
However, Heracles had no intention of telling him any further. The many veiled words he had spoken so far were proof of that.
“What’s the second reason?”
“Because the power you possess is so exceptional.”
Re-entry into the Pandemonium.
What was now a matter of course for Frondier seemed very strange in the eyes of Heracles and Telephus. Athena and Baal probably thought the same.
“Until now, no one has been able to freely enter and exit the Pandemonium. Humans, devils, and even Gods.”
And for everyone, the same fact became a law.
The law that one cannot re-enter the Pandemonium.
However, since this law wasn't based on any clear logic or reason, it would be broken with just a single exception.
And the exception had occurred.
“Such an exception, I felt there must be a reason.”
“A reason, you say?”
“The reason why you were given such power.”
Heracles pointed at Frondier.
“What if that power was ultimately meant to free the giants trapped in the Pandemonium?”
He spoke as if peering into Frondier's soul.
“Whether it’s resisting a fate someone has orchestrated, or ultimately submitting to it. We shall see.”
