“You saw it?”

“Yes. I saw one of the giants from the past using it. Though, they didn't use it the same way you do.”

As if recalling a distant memory, Belphegor pressed his fingers to his forehead.

“That giant used Weaving like a virtual space. They drew some unique rune and placed objects made with Weaving on top of it. Then, when they activated the rune later, the things they had registered in Weaving would reappear.”

“……Ah!”

Frondier exclaimed, understanding what he meant.

Manggot. The Menosorpo he found in Manggot. When he restored and activated it, he was able to meet Joan of Arc.

‘That's right. Joan of Arc died a long time ago, but she appeared before me again. That was the power of Weaving.’

Joan of Arc said it herself. It was the power of Weaving that allowed her to reappear.

Although she could only do extremely limited things and couldn’t leave the rune, Joan of Arc definitely reappeared.

‘I can’t do that yet. I don’t know how.’

But if that was the power of Weaving, then Frondier should be able to do it too.

Weaving had levels.

However, it hadn't leveled up in a very long time. It was as if its growth had stopped.

Until now, he had assumed he had reached the peak level and left it at that, but seeing this situation, there was clearly more to it. There was a condition for leveling up that he hadn't met yet.

‘Perhaps…’

Frondier looked at his smartwatch. This thing had also become useless a long time ago.

Maybe there was a hint about Weaving in it?

‘…No way.’

However, the smartwatch showed no response, no change whatsoever.

It remained a completely useless object.

“Hey, Belphegor. Where did you meet this giant?”

“The one who used Weaving? Hmm, it wasn't anywhere special. I just remember it was some kind of smithy.”

Belphegor frowned as if struggling to recall something from so long ago.

“A smithy?”

“Yes, they were making some kind of weapon.”

“How could you, a devil, see that?”

“Those guys had no idea I was a devil. And at the time, humans didn't have the luxury of worrying about devils.”

True, devils were indistinguishable from humans. As long as they kept their wings hidden. Frondier had used that to his advantage many times.

“You said they didn’t have the luxury of worrying about devils because of the Gods?”

“Exactly. They were busy fighting Gods; they didn't have time to keep an eye on devils. Besides, from a devil's point of view, there was no reason to interfere when humans were willing to fight the Gods for us. That’s why we didn't meddle in each other's affairs.”

“So, what kind of weapon were they making?”

“I don't know its name. It looked like a spear.”

Thump.

Frondier's heart skipped a beat at those words.

He tried to remain calm and asked again.

“…Do you remember the name of that giant?”

“Hmm.”

Belphegor crossed his arms and looked down.

His voice was nonchalant.

“I think their name was… Loki.”

* * *

Snake.

There was no other way to describe it.

There was nothing else particularly noteworthy about it.

A deep green body, reptilian eyes, a flickering tongue, a long, slitted mouth.

A snake.

Except that it was,

“...Whoa, it's huge.”

So overwhelmingly large that it rendered even Sybil's exclamation mundane.

"Hello there. Do you happen to have a name,"

[You.]

The snake interrupted Sybil.

[How did you get in here?]

“Huh?”

Sybil asked back.

“How did I get in here? You brought me here.”

Sybil recalled the events that had just transpired.

A snake suddenly appeared on top of the King of Palma's head.

The king was in agony, so she shot fire at it, but it had no effect. So, she caught the snake with her bare hands.

The next thing she knew, she was here in this ocean, facing this snake.

[Me? Don't be ridiculous.]

The snake shook its head. The wind picked up with its leisurely movement.

[I was just trying to kill you.]

“...Well, that's interesting.”

Sybil was speechless.

‘You were trying to kill me, but somehow I ended up in your domain?’

Sybil asked.

“Out of curiosity, how were you planning to kill me?”

[Why, with Eclexis, of course.]

Sybil's eyes widened at those words. Eclexis.

She had heard that word before.

After the chaos in the city of Palma, Frondier had explained it to her.

…But what was it again…?

“Ah.”

Sybil nodded as if she understood.

“This is Pandemonium, isn’t it?!”

[…You mean to tell me you didn’t even know that?]

The snake's eyes lost their leisurely air.

It tilted its head, genuinely puzzled.

[You’re saying you resisted Eclexis without even realizing it, without even knowing the form of your own soul?]

Not knowing the form of her own soul.

Right, Eclexis was the power of the soul.

Frondier had clearly said that one could only use that power by becoming aware of their own soul.

Sybil smiled faintly.

“I have a knack for getting lucky!”
